ZHANG Bei is the Deputy Director-General of the Research Bureau, the People’s Bank of China (PBC), since Dec. 2022. She is working in the area of green finance and transition finance, covering taxonomy, environment information disclosure, policy lever etc. She previously served as the Deputy Director-General of the Research Institute of PBC from 2019 to 2022, and her research interests focused on green finance and international finance.
Prior to that she worked for the Monetary Policy Department of PBC for about 19 years. She served in secretariat of the Monetary Policy Committee. She had extensive experience on economic and monetary analysis and was the main editor of China Monetary Policy Report. Her research interests focused on monetary policy framework, inflation expectation, macroprudential policy etc.
She has a Ph.D. in economics and a master’s degree in International Finance from the Graduate School of PBC（Tsinghua PBCSF）, and a bachelor's degree in International Trade from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), China.
